Shockflyers ... not to shiok after all...
« on: January 17, 2006, 02:41:36 PM »
I got myself a shockflyer recently and have been trying to fly it but it still doesn't seem to fly too nicely for my liking. Perhaps I am not used to flying something which has a plank and no airfoil for a wing. Is there any special way in which I should fly the plane ? as in ..in a high alpha angle?

When I try to fly the plane slowly... it seems to lose control and want to wing drop. This makes for very twitchy flights. I am not wondering how the guys in the videos do it when they are flying in enclosed halls. Surely their planes look more stable than mine. I don't think mine is built to be that much heavier so what could be the problem?
The ground seems to come up a bit too fast!

Hello,

hmmm, same here.  :-[  When I got my first Tensor 4D plane with little experience on it but very much in simulator but in reality bam!  ???

Manage to wreck the whole plane but got back with new one. What I have learn about it was never to go over power motor and keep it lightweight.

Yeah... flying planks literally need quite a bit of skill. It's not really a plane anymore.... it just doesn't fly without power. You need power all the way plus slight +ve angle of attack to fly the plane.

Lightweight is the way to go... very very lightweight. Advice to others is to "Build em lite"

Electric RULES, lighter the better. especially 3D. ;) but practise more is what i'm doing now, play more, learn more, and  u will be more expert, enjoy flying. ;D
