Cause & Cost of E325 Mini Titan Crash

(1/1)

adriantan:
I crashed my Mini Titan about 2 weeks back and sad to say, it was my first crash of the chopper since I first bought it 1 1/2 - 2 yrs back! This chopper has been the most fun to fly thought I haven't owned a Trex450 to be able to compare with. The Titan is a stable chopper and very forgiving. The only reason why it crashed was because the setup of the swashplate & etc wasn't properly done. It was part mechanical and part setup that caused the crash. When setting up your Titan, do take note of the guide pin on the swashplate and make sure it doesn't come out of the "guide" when full negative pitch and rull back cyclic is applied. If the pin is too close to the edge of the guide, it might come off during flight.... which was basically what happened in my case.

Luckily for me the crash wasn't that painful to repair. I had to change the main blades (carbon), tail blades (carbon), paddles, tail boom, main shaft, feathering shaft, main gear and 1 main blade grip, 1 missing link, and tail boom support ring which cost me approx RM320+ in total. This price basically provides me with double replacement parts (as supplied by Thunder Tiger) apart from the blades & paddles. I guess the most exp part were the carbon blades at RM120/pair!

Anyway the chopper flies just as good as before now so I'm still very happy with this chopper... definitely more stable than my Trex250 :) Happy Flights to you all.
