Remote Cameras (Wireless)
« on: June 03, 2006, 03:04:00 PM »
Does anyone know where we can get hold of cameras that are so small and light we can fit it into r/c planes or helicopters?

Haven't really surfed around for information but I suppose the following would be cool:

1) Small cameras light enough not to affect overall weight
2) Power source of the cameras from RX Nicad without need for external power
3) Ability to transmit back to the ground (either to PC or ???) in real time
4) Ability to perform recording
5) Crash proof

Based on the above, has anyone come across such cameras locally? Where can we buy them and for how much? Wouldn't it be great if someone could bring it in and offer it on this website for example?

 ;D
The ground seems to come up a bit too fast!

hi, you can try search it @ jln pudu. I bought several cctv camera wired and wireless, big and  small. i usually bought it @ timing electronics. i think they have a websites (not sure what is their url) try google it.

there is pinhole wirelless camera with built in tranmitter, quit small but don't really have low LUX spec so image is not good in low light condition.

i don't know how much amount of volt and amp can the RX nicad supply. so i'm not sure about this.

there also wireless infrared cam, but quit heavy, needs around 12volt and 500mA, can operate lower than that , but less power, less the capability of the camera

as for "crash proof" maybe need to put polysrterene around the camera.

all of these camera use A/V conectors, just connect the receiver to the tv input or small lcd screen like u put in a car.

There are several kinds out there. Actually, your question is quite old, did you find a solution for this? Nowadays, you can get the wireless A/V kind, which also allows you to monitor from the ground, but you can also get a small portable unit that will record to SD Card as a video or as time lapse JPEGs.

The A/V transmitter type costs about RM150 - RM200, image quality is like mediocre mobile phone camera level, and you will need an A/V recorder such as a video camcorder with the appropriate cabling on the ground. It is very susceptible to interference, so you will get a nice scratchy recording! I'll try to post images soon.

Oh, BTW, if you want to try the A/V recorder route, I have the whole setup if you want to borrow it to try.
