Hi am trying to understand a little more about FLAP settings. I have read from many sources (e.g.
http://www.fly-imaa.org/imaa/hfarticles/flying/v8-4-18.html) that when you put the flaps down, you will need to feed in down elevator to keep the nose of the plane from balooning up.
The above would seem true. However when I tried it on my GWS MUSTANG, I had to put UP Elevator instead of DOWN Elevator mixing. A DOWN elevator mix will make the plane dive towards the ground.
Why is this happening? Why does the mustang behave differently from other planes in this setting? The only thing I can think of is that the wings were never designed to have flaps on them and putting down the flaps actually acts like spoilers and cuts off lift which is why up elevator is needed. But why does this happen? Wing design?
