Vertical Take-Off Turbine Jet
« on: July 09, 2007, 01:29:52 AM »
I might well be last too the party with this, but I thought that I would share this with you all. It's a video on YouTube of a vertical take off and landing jet somebody built:

  • Vertically mounted turbine jet to provide vertical lift
  • Various electric motors with propellers to provide longitudinal and latitudinal stability
  • It transitions to and from forward flight, but all the way thru, the turbine remains vertical, so not exactly the real deal

damn the jet engine sounds sweet! and it seems to be pretty powerful too esp the vertical thrust control. Too bad they mixed it with motors... seem to pull the quality of the aircraft down when u use motors mixed with a jet engine ;)

Yeah, I was originally expecting the turbine to swivel into the horizontal, but it never did, and then I noticed the motors and propellers... spoil the whole effect! Ha ha. We're so demanding.
