Need advice for Nitro Buggy
« on: July 20, 2010, 06:16:25 PM »
Hi All member,

I'm new to RC Car and would like to invest in getting a Nitro power buggy and I have went to few shop to ask around however have some concern and would appriciate some advice from experience member.

The reason I choose the nitro power because most of the shop told me most people will only buy electric power for on road car but not buggy cause no praticle to play a electric buggy on track. is that true?

What kind of maintenenace that I need to be extract cautious for a nitro power buggy as most shop told me the maintenance can be quite tedious and no part need to be change as compare with Electric power. For begginer 1.5k for whole set of buggy is it consider expensive?

Personally I would like to build the car myself, this way you will know more about the car but as mention from shop to build own car it will cause easily 3k  and maybe even more as most car kits is expensive as compare with RTR. any advice?

Appriciate can have some advice from all of you before I decide to get one.

Thanks

Hello Thundercat,

If I were into buggies I would definately get a kit to build myself. I somehow don't like or trust RTRs :) Even with planes and helicopters which I am interested in, I still prefer to build them myself. At least I know they are well put together.

Nitro or electric is up to personal choice. It would be cheaper going with electric since you don't have to worry about buying starters, fuel & etc although you might need to spend a bit on batteries. Nitro will also allow you to run your car as long as you have fuel but for electric, you will need additional battery packs if you don't want to wait for battries to be recharged each time. Nitros are also generally more messy due to oil build up so you might need to spend time cleaning your car after each run... not to mention after run oil & etc for the engine. If you're the lazy type then go with electric. If not then I think nitro rocks! The sound rocks and so does the smell (don't get addited ok)

In terms of performance, they are both pretty good and comparable. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on the hobby ;)

Good luck!
